What WTR 1000 says about OLIVARES:

"The IP protection and enforcement services provided by Olivares cover every angle imaginable; its sophisticated understanding of trademarks as commercial assets rather than legal instruments results in guidance that extends far beyond the basic IP remit. “All the Olivares lawyers maintain high standards. They know the law first and foremost, but they never give up and are always pushing for their clients. It is a reliable group that anyone can learn a lot from.”

Alejandro Luna Fandiño is the man whom life sciences companies turn to: “He is an excellent litigator; when you are his counterpart, you face a real intellectual challenge. He is always fair and a gentleman, though.” Although best known for his mastery of patent law, he also has “a strong foundation in trademarks”.

Daniel Sanchez has lately advised several pharmaceutical enterprises on drug name approval by the Federal Commission of Protection against Sanitary Risks. Equally capable in other industries, the pair recently represented a prestigious name in women’s fashion.

Crossing the contentious/non-contentious divide are Antonio Belaunzarán Martínez and Sergio Olivares Jr, both prominent figures on the Mexican trademark scene and practitioners who are well used to both establishing new law and clarifying old law.

Hardcore prosecution efforts are led by the softly spoken, yet intimidatingly knowledgeable Alonso Camargo Sordo. He is a touchstone for many of the firm’s largest brand owners.

IAM Patent 1000, highly recommended firm, prosecution; Gold ranked firm, litigation

  • Gustavo Alcocer, recommended individual transactions

  • Alejandro Luna, Gold individual litigation
  • Daniel Sanchez, Bronze individual litigation

What IAM Patent 1000 says about OLIVARES:

“OLIVARES is the only firm in Mexico to be gold rated for litigation and highly recommended for prosecution. Acting on behalf of world-beating technology companies across a multitude of sectors, it exhibits unsurpassed knowledge of the Mexican patent system: for the prosecution of keystone patents, it is a top choice. Recent trend-setting work includes acting on behalf of Instituto Mexicano del Petróleo in securing the first-ever US patent to be granted to a Mexican company under the Mexico- US Patent Prosecution Highway programme. The firm is also no stranger to setting precedents on the contentious front. Perhaps Mexico¹s most experienced duo, Sergio Olivares, Jr. and Cesar Ramos, Jr. lead the patent prosecution department. Pharmaceutical patent litigation star Alejandro Luna Fandiño is heralded as the group¹s top trial lawyer. The contentious division also relies heavily on the litigation and regulatory prowess of Daniel Sanchez. All bases are covered by this deep team and, for licensing and commercialization assignments, few are more respected than insightful strategist Gustavo Alcocer."
